Our Signature Commercial Playground Projects

A to Z Recreation has brought elements of PLAY to the areas of Colorado and Wyoming. Check out just a few of our commercial playground projects below.

Sapling Grove Apartments - Aurora, Colorado

When Sapling Grove Apartments was still just blueprints and big dreams, the playground wasn't an afterthought — it was part of the ground-up vision. The developers and architects knew that in urban Aurora, where space comes at a premium, they'd need to build up when they couldn't build out.

The Nucleus® playground for ages 2-12 anchors the playspace as the centerpiece, protected by an integrated playground shade that keeps climbing surfaces cool even on Colorado's sunniest days. Designed for ages 2-5, the artistic Level X® Launch XL adds sculptural beauty that complements the complex's modern architecture, while the Comet Spinner and Cirrus® Swing deliver those can't-get-enough moments of motion for kids ages 5-12. But it's the bold departure from the expected nature themes that truly sets this playspace apart — a dozen-plus vibrant colors burst across every surface, while whimsical ladybugs, caterpillars and nature designs dance across the durable poured-in-place surfacing. This dynamic color palette adds an extra pop to the complex and the community, tying directly to the apartments' interior design themes.

This thoughtfully integrated playspace does more than entertain — it builds community. Nearby shade structures, turf areas and seating create natural gathering spots where neighbors become friends and kids become play companions. For apartment communities where every amenity counts, this playground proves that investing in play pays dividends in resident satisfaction and retention.

Oak Meadows Park - Colorado Springs, Colorado

At Oak Meadows Park, the vision was simple — create a place where every child can play, explore and imagine while highlighting the beauty all around them, especially the Rocky Mountains rising in the background. With support from federal grant funding, this Colorado Springs park was transformed into an inclusive play destination that invites everyone in for play, movement and fun.

At its heart is Nucleus Evolution®, a fully accessible play structure design that amplifies adventure. Every child can walk, run or roll toward the summit and experience the awe of iconic mountain views. Around it, carefully placed freestanding elements encourage connection, creativity and exploration.

The Volta® Inclusive Spinner builds bonds through shared movement and joy while helping children develop proprioception, core strength and balance. StemPlay® educational panels bring STEM learning outdoors, turning recess into child-directed learning and discovery. And the sculptural Formis® Dome draws kids into adventure and imagination, helping them develop cognitive planning, creative problem-solving and decision-making skills.

The layout flows naturally from structure to spinner and panels to dome, allowing everyone to create their own pathways through the space. Every element is designed to feel both intentional and intuitive, encouraging exploration and comfort for all community members.

With mountain views at every turn, Oak Meadows Park is a model for what’s possible when inclusive design, inspired placement and community investment come together to create something lasting.

Banning Lewis Elementary - Colorado Springs, Colorado

Banning Lewis Academy knows its Colorado students bring boundless energy to every school day. Their new playspace rises to meet those expectations with the kind of challenges kids crave — all wrapped in red and gold that broadcasts Stallion pride across the playground.

The Nucleus Evolution® playground and RopeVenture® Vertex deliver the climbing adventures Colorado students expect, while Novo® Playful Furniture transforms outdoor classroom lessons into explorations. StemPlay® educational panels turn waiting time into discovery time with hands-on science, math and shared creative inspiration. Throughout the space, students can visit Serenity Spot®, which offers something equally important — a chance to step away from the action without stepping out of the play. These soothing spaces let students rest and reset on their own terms before they reengage and play.

Classic swings and durable poured-in-place surfacing round out this high-energy playspace that understands the rhythm and basics of school life. Some kids need to climb higher. Some need to think deeper. Some just need a moment. At Banning Lewis Academy, there's room for every kind of learner to thrive.

Wulf Park - Evergreen, Colorado

High in the Colorado mountains, Wulf Park Recreation Center has transformed its outdoor playspace into an inclusive destination where free play reigns supreme — and replay value rules. This thoughtful upgrade combines cutting-edge equipment with a space that honors community history while embracing every child's right to play.

The star attraction? The 360 Loop® is a transfer, climber, slide combination that allows children of all abilities to have control over their play experience and be able to play and move independently in an all-new way. Watch any afternoon and you'll see waves of kids discovering new ways to play with each visit. The Nucleus Evolution® play system, StemPlay® educational activities, Sand & Water Spots for loose parts play and swings ensure everyone can explore, learn and soar.

What makes this project truly special is the community spirit behind it. When an unexpected snowstorm threatened to delay the safety surfacing installation, families from A to Z Recreation grabbed shovels and cleared the way. Their dedication ensured kids could start playing on schedule — proving that at multipurpose recreation destinations like Wulf Park, play truly moves communities.
